Here in Arizona, we don’t have to think too much about cold weather and all the things that come with it, like snow, ice, and mittens. But even still, temperatures are known to drop a bit during the winter season, which is why it is important that you own a great heating system.
Two of the most common heating systems on the market today are the furnace and the heat pump (and we install both!) Below, we have outlined some of the benefits of each, that way, you can decide which is best for your home. All you have to do is keep reading to find out more (and of course, ask an expert HVAC professional, like one of ours, for help!)
What’s the Deal with Furnaces?
Furnaces are by far the most popular home heating systems on the market today. Why? Because they’re efficient, effective, and reliable—these forced-air systems are capable of lasting for upwards of 15 years!
Nowadays, furnaces come in two different models:
- Gas Furnaces: Natural gas is a widely available and efficient fuel source, so we recommend one of these systems if your home has access to natural gas lines.
- Electric Furnaces: Electric furnaces are definitely super-efficient. Electricity can be rather expensive but, if you live in an area where electricity is relatively cheap, then you might want to consider this type of system.
No matter what your preferences are, there is a furnace out there for you! Installing a furnace is a great way to keep you and your family warm and toasty when the temperature starts to drop!
How About a Heat Pump?
Heat pumps work much like a traditional air conditioner, relying on the flow of refrigerant to transfer heat from one place to another. But, what sets the heat pump apart from a standard AC is the reversing valve, which reverses the direction the refrigerant flows through the system. This allows home heating in addition to cooling!
That’s right: with just one system you’ll be able to heat and cool your home! And not only that, but these systems are super-efficient, highly effective, and come in both ducted and ductless models, so no matter how much space you have, you’ll be able to find a system best suited for you!
What Will You Choose?
Of course, the best way to ensure that you get the best heater for your home is by hiring a trained HVAC professional. Trust us, only a professional has the experience and expertise to match you with the system that’s going to best meet your unique comfort and budget needs.
And yes, there may be plenty of amateurs out there willing to provide these services for a fairly cheap price, but be warned: sometimes an attempt to save money could end up costing you much more in the long run. It’s much better to call in a pro and get the job done right the first time around.
